In the rafters
Are things misplaced,
Old secrets and stories, long forgotten,
Covered in dust, hidden from sight,
Awaiting the day to find new light.
Put to rest by saddened minds,
With loved ones lost, they mutter good byes,
The door slammed shut and darkness falls,
Remaining forgotten like a sunken ship,
Years pass, seconds tick.
Layer after layer, web after web,
For faded dreams, these things they weep,
Finally drained they fall asleep,
Still and dormant they lay in wait,
For their hope to shine through this darkened space.
One day a sound, the creaking of wood,
A flood of light oh it blinds,
Secrets unveiled, stories now known, life starts over, that’s what we’re told
Captured by loss put them in darkness and in the end set them free.
In the rafters, these things, they’re waiting for me.
